On the evening of 10 November 2025, a powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort tragically killed several people and moreover injured more than two dozen.

Eyewitnesses heard a defending bang and saw flame shooting into the air.

Within moments, people screamed and ran for cover as  smoke blanketed the area.

The fire gutted nearby vehicles and shops before firefighters arrived and brought it under control.

Police officers rushed to the site and sealed all entry points and diverted traffic.

Ambulances carried the injured to LNJP and Lok Nayak Hospitals,

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora reached the scene and supervised rescue operations.

Authorities suspended metro services around the Red Fort and evacuated the surrounding lanes to prevent further chaos.

Investigators suspect that the attacker used high- grade explosives, possibly RDX or ammonium nitrate, and planted them inside the vehicle.

Officials examined CCTV footage from nearby roads and Metro cameras to trace the car’s route.

The footage showed the car entering the Red Fort area a few hours before the explosion.

Investigators are tracking the car’s ownership detail and verifying whether the number plate was fake.

They also detained a few suspects from North Delhi for questioning.

Authorities raised Delhi securities to the highest level immediately after the incident.

Police deployed, armed personnel around monuments, Metro Station, Markets.

Bomb disposal squads checked  other vehicles parked in the vicinity.

The Home Ministry directed State Police forces to strengthen security at tourist sites and Government offices.

Home Minister Amit Shah briefed the Prime Minister and ordered a detailed report on the explosion.

He stated that the government would not spare those responsible and promised swift justice.

The NIA is coordinating with Delhi Police Special Cell, Intelligence Bureau, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to reconstruct the sequence of events.

The Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, holds great national importance as the place

where India’s Prime Minister hoists the national flag every Independence Day.

The monument has faced attacks before, most notably in December 2000,

when militants opened fire inside the fort.

That history has made the recent explosion even more alarming for security agencies.

Investigators continue to trace the source of the explosive and identify the people behind the plot.

Early leads indicate that the attackers may have intended to target a crowded evening Market.

Police are reviewing phone records and vehicle registrations connected to the case.

The Red Fort blast has once again exposed vulnerabilities in Delhi’s security network.

Authorities are working to strengthen surveillance, upgrade explosive detection systems, and increase police presence around public monuments.
